Data & method

Pipelines: live, pulled for the current view as you pan/zoom. Natural gas comes from the Texas Railroad Commission statewide pipeline network (T-4 permit data) — the full intrastate + interstate gas system, far denser than federal summaries. Crude oil, petroleum product, and HGL/NGL come from the U.S. EIA (compiled from FERC, USGS, BOEM, HIFLD). Note: PHMSA's NPMS holds additional detail but is restricted to government/operators.

Fiber: exact carrier routes are proprietary. These corridors trace the interstate & railroad rights-of-way that long-haul fiber parallels (InterTubes, SIGCOMM 2015); notes verified vs. 2025-26 carrier/NTIA sources. Representative, not survey-grade.

Roads: tile overlay (Esri World Transportation) showing every road incl. local streets; switch the basemap to Streets for the full OpenStreetMap network. Counties: live Texas county boundaries from U.S. Census TIGER (254). Names appear at closer zoom.
